In this advisory letter, the AIV argues that the government and parliament can and should play a far more active role in the European regulatory process than they have in the past. The prevailing image of rules ‘imposed by’ Brussels is not an accurate portrayal of the influence that government and parliament genuinely wield over EU decision-making. In fact, it creates the impression among the public that no one has control over that decision-making process any more.
