The Netherlands and Crisis Management: Three Issues of Current Interest

Developments in the field of crisis management and their implications for the Netherlands are unfolding at a rapid pace. The AIV observes that optimism about crisis management has faded among the United Nations and its member countries in the wake of several traumatic experiences. States recognise that there are limits to what the UN can take on in this area. The need for an integrated approach and security policy combining both military action and civil assistance has also become clearer.
